Asthma is a chronic illness involving the respiratory system in which
the airway occasionally constricts, becomes inflamed, and is lined with excessive
amounts of mucus, often in response to one or more triggers. These episodes may
be triggered by such things as exposure to an environmental stimulant (or allergen)
such as cold air, warm air, moist air, exercise or exertion, or emotional stress.
In children, the most common triggers are viral illnesses such as those that cause
the common cold.[1] This airway narrowing causes symptoms such as wheezing, shortness
of breath, chest tightness, and coughing. The airway constriction responds to
bronchodilators. Between episodes, most patients feel well but can have mild symptoms
and they may remain short of breath after exercise for longer periods of time
than the unaffected individual. The symptoms of asthma, which can range from mild
to life threatening, can usually be controlled with a combination of drugs and
environmental changes. Public attention in the developed world has recently focused
on asthma because of its rapidly increasing prevalence, affecting up to one in
four urban children.

Air duct cleaning
is important for homeowners. If not properly maintained, air ducts often become
contaminated with dust, pollen and other debris. If moisture is present, mold
spores can grow and may be released into a home's living space. Some of these
contaminants may cause allergies and illnesses. Properly cleaned air ducts promote
healthier breathing, a cleaner home, and increased energy efficiency.
To meet the
growing demand for quality air duct cleaning services and to handle an increasing
volume of customers, Warren helped to establish a Clarksville office. Mr. B's
Air Duct Cleaning in Clarksville serves Northern Middle Tennessee and Western
Kentucky, and is operated by Kurt Hamm, a Clarksville resident.
Kurt, a retired
Marine Corps Officer with over twenty-five years of active service, knows how
to get the job done and done right. Happily married to his wife Lynette for
twenty-three years, he is a father of three children and a dedicated "hands
on" businessman. He focuses on providing quality service, professional results,
and guaranteed customer satisfaction. No job is too big or small, and Kurt takes
pride in the excellent customer feedback he receives. As Kurt says, "The customer
is always #1, and I do everything I can to let them know it!"

If you suffer from allergies, asthma, or even if you find you have to dust too often, then air duct cleaning is for you. Not only will you breathe cleaner air, you can increase the amount of air flow reducing your electric bills. The American College of Allergy concluded that 50 percent of all illnesses are either caused by, or aggravated by, polluted indoor air. Even in new homes we find just as much dust and residue as older homes due to construction residue.
Over time, pollutants, mold and bacteria from dirt, pollen, tobacco smoke, pet hair and dust mites collect in the ductwork of your home's heating and cooling system. Every time your furnace, air conditioner, or heat pump runs, these particles whisk through the vents and spew into the air that your family breathes. It's UNSANITARY. It's UNHEALTHY. We can rid your ducts of this build-up using our special system.
Frequently
asked question about air duct cleaning:
Q1:
Are there any health benefits that come from air duct system cleaning?
A: Air Duct systems have been shown to act as a collection source for very small
particles of dust. The removal of such contaminants from the air duct system
and home should be considered as one component in an overall plan to improve
indoor air quality. We have been air tested and we know we can remove 53% of
the dust from your home, so it would seem to be a positive impact on your health.
Q2:
How can I tell if I need my ducts cleaned?
A: You can tell if your air ducts need to be cleaned by inspecting the following
items: If there are black filtration lines around the edge of your carpets?
Can you see dust particles in the sun light rays? Do you wake up in the mornings
stuffy and congested from breathing dust all night? Is your home usually dusty?
These are just a few of the ways you will be able to detect if your air ducts
need to be cleaned.
Call today for a free estimate: 931-561-9969.
Q3:
Will cleaning air ducts reduce our home energy bills?
A: Research by the U.S. EPA has demonstrated that air duct system cleaning may
allow systems to run more efficiently by removing debris from sensitive mechanical
components. Clean, efficient systems are less likely to break down, have longer
life span, and generally operate better than dirty systems do.
Q4:
What is the normal price range for the air duct cleaning service?
A: All prices are based on square footage and the general layout of your home.
Q5:
How long should it take to clean a typical residential air duct system?
A: There are a variety of factors that could affect the time needed to clean
a residential air duct system, including the type of home and accessibility
of the duct work. Most residential homes with approximately 2,000 square feet
will take around 2 1/2 to 3 hours to clean.
Q6:
Are your employees employed by your company or are they contract laborers?
A: Our employees are not contract laborers. They will be at your house in our
vans with our logos and also dressed in our uniforms. They will present you
a business card and start looking around to get started on the job. Once they
start, they will not stop until the job is completed.

Air Quality Facts
50% of all illnesses are either caused or aggravated by polluted indoor air - American College of Allergist
Microbial contamination poses a major health threat to people who suffer from allergies, asthma, and other respiratory ailments.
Children, elderly people and people with breathing problems, allergies and lung diseases are particularly susceptible to disease-causing biological agents in the indoor air - EPA
The moisture and debris commonly found in HVAC systems provides an ideal breeding ground for mold, germs, fungi and other harmful microbes.
Ducted heating and cooling systems are recommended to be cleaned once a year - Better Heating Cooling Council
Airborne contaminants are drawn through the duct work of central air conditioning system via return registers. Standard, throw away fiberglass filters remove less than 7% of these particles. The remaining particles settle in the air ducts.
Indoor air is found to be up to 70 times more polluted than outside air - EPA
Now acknowledged as a major allergy and disease causing problem by leading medical authorities, poor indoor air quality has prompted doctors and allergists to prescribe air duct cleaning as a remedy.
90% of system failures are caused by dirt and dust - LCES
Duct cleaning cuts maintenance costs because a clean system has fewer breakdowns. Air duct cleaning can also reduce heating and cooling costs by allowing your system to operate more efficiently.
To gauge the cleanliness of your air ducts, take a look behind the return air grilles in your home.
Most people find that one look provides enough evidence to initiate a thorough duct cleaning.

State-of-the-Art
Source Removal Duct Cleaning
Our
company uses only state of the art equipment manufactured by Abatement Technology
(www.abatement.com ). Our Hepa-Vac is
a portable unit that will be placed within twenty five feet of your main supply
trunk line. We then will cut a twelve inch opening into the trunk line and attach
our Hepa-Vac system. Once this is attached it will cause a negative air flow
and at this point we will go to each branch line to brush each line to the trunk
line. This is a soft ply brush on the end of a drill so that enables us to clean
metal ducts, flex ducts, or duct board lines. This brush causes most items to
break loose from the lines ant the negative air flow from the Hepa-Vac brings
it to the trunk line, to insure that we have gotten everything from the branch
lines. We then use an air sweep at 185 PSI down each branch line to the trunk
line.
Once
all the trunk lines are brushed and air swept to the trunk line, we will then
clean the trunk line back the unit with reverse brushes and air sweeps. Once
completed, we will repair the trunk line with sheet metal, zip screws, and foil
tape completely securing your lines back. Then your air duct lines are clean,
without the use of any chemicals. According to WebMD.com
those who suffer with allergy problems should clean their air ducts every year.
For most people, in residential homes, the ducts will stay clean for 5 to 7
years with the use of good filters and Heating and A/C service work on a regular
basis.

Kurt Hamm and his helpers did an amazing job with our old, renovated house ducts.
We had just bought the house and there was a bad odor coming from one of the
vents. I know now there was a lot of debris in all the vents but this one was
animal related. They cleaned them all AND repaired ducts under the house. Kurt
even managed to get through the entire very low crawl space. I was so impressed
and thankful as we hadn't been getting much heat in that part of the house either.
I can't remember the last time I was this impressed with a company. There is
absolutely nothing they could've done better and they are very nice and polite
too! Now I'm spoiled with how nice the air in our house is and start sneezing
when I go to work. I can't thank Kurt enough for all his help but here's a start
- thank you Kurt! See ya next time.

My place of business brought in Kurt Hamm to clean up and restore air ducts
after 7 years of neglect. We have an average weekly visitation of 5,000 people,
and Kurt's work has not gone unnoticed by them or our 50 employees. There has
been a significant reduction in dust accumulation on our fixtures and counters.
We thank Kurt for a cleaner working and shopping environment for our associates
and customers.
Thanks. Don McIlwain

I had done business with a Nashville company a few months before calling Kurt
Hamm with Mr B's. Let me just say they had done a less than desirable job and
had torn the duct work in my house. So, of course, I needed the work done right.
Kurt and I discussed the work and repairs. He came to my house, repaired the
torn duct, cleaned my entire ductwork, and my dryer vent. He did it all in a
reasonable amount of time and for a great price. I have less dust and less allergy
problems. I highly recommend Mr. B's for everyone.
Sincerely, Amanda Tucker

Kurt Hamm attends the same church as I do. I am on oxygen therapy 24 hours a
day and the cleaning of the air ducts seems to help me breathe easier and most
of my allergies have abated. If people knew about the quality of work and the
reasonable prices, all their competition would be out of business. (Air Duct

I am writing to tell you of our experience with your company. I believe it is
important to give credit where it's due so I would like to tell you that the
performance and courtesy I experienced this morning by your crew was exemplary. Not
only did they arrive when they were scheduled, the gentlemen who represent you
were efficient, careful to keep my home clean during the procedure, covering
their shoes before walking into my home), and extremely adept in their profession.
I commend you in your judgement when hiring these young men. Thank you for a
refreshing experience. I know you will be hearing from my neighbors to service
their homes as well. (Air Duct Cleaning Client)

Dear "Mr. B", Billy & Ken arrived this morning to clean the duct work in my
house. I had an idea as to the job that was before them. I do not think they
did! I must say these gentlemen went "above and beyond" the call of duty to
get the job done. They were very respectful and courteous despite the "dirty
job" that awaited them. Please know that if you ever need a "testimonial" do
not hesitate to call me. (Air Duct Cleaning Client)

"... I have been meaning to write to you since our air ducts were cleaned.
I know that you expressed concern over the fact that our ceilings were finished
even in the garage and we could not physically look into the lines. However,
I could not be more pleased - the amount of dust in our home is almost non-existent!
I noticed this the actual day the guys cleaned and it has only continued to
improve. Both of our teenagers are not using their asthma inhalers while at
home and I rarely have to dust. For a Mom who is a cleaning fanatic, this is
incredible! I would highly recommend you to everyone and please feel free to
give me as a reference. However, I seriously doubt your excellent service needs
references. Again, thanks for an excellent job!" (Air Duct Cleaning Client)

Mr. B's has done a couple of things in my home. Some of my family members have
severely sensitive allergies. After extensive amounts of research, the method
of air duct cleaning used by Mr. B's was what we decided to go with. When we
described our situation to the company, Warren Barley himself (the owner), came
to our home to determine if what his company did was right for our needs. When
it was determined that we did, in fact, need his service, the crew showed up
a couple of days later as scheduled, and they were polite, thorough, on-time
and extremely respectful of our home while doing their work. Mr. B's provided
our home with a clean air environment that produced immediate improvement in
our allergies and did so at a very reasonable and fair price. If people knew
about them what I know now, all of Mr. B's competitors would be out of business.

Conquer Your Allergies You don't need to suffer if you have
allergies. Here's how to lessen the blow. By Jeanie L. Davis WebMD FeatureAllergies
can be irritating and even maddening. But you don't have to suffer. Take charge
of your environment! Here are some steps to control the allergens that trigger
your reactions. Pollen, mold, dust mites, and animal dander are common irritants
that cause itchy eyes and congestion. To get rid of them, you must make changes
inside your home - and take precautions when outdoors. At Home Keep windows
closed and use air conditioning. Clean air filters frequently and air ducts
at least once a year. Keep humidity in your house below 50% to prevent mold
growth. Install dehumidifiers in basements and other damp areas. Avoid moldy
areas: basements, garages, crawl spaces, barns, compost heaps. Keep pets outside.
If you must keep pets indoors, do not allow them in bedrooms; bathe them often.
Use plastic covers for pillows, mattresses, and box springs. Get rid of overstuffed
furniture or down-filled bedding/pillows. Wash bedding in hot water every week.
Wear a mask and gloves when cleaning to limit chemical exposure. Install hardwood
floors instead of carpeting. Limit number of throw rugs. Avoid dust-collecting
window blinds and long drapes. Use window shades instead. Vacuum twice a week.
Wash bathroom surfaces and shower curtain with diluted bleach. Outdoors Check
the forecast. Stay indoors on hot, dry, windy days when pollen count is high.
If mold is a problem, stay inside during rainy or windy days. Check the time.
Between 5 a.m. and 10 a.m., pollen counts are highest. Avoid being around freshly
cut grass whenever possible. Avoid yard work! Mowing stirs up grass pollen.
Flowers are loaded with pollen; so are many trees. Raking leaves stirs up mold
spores. Let someone else to do your yard work, so you can avoid these pesky
allergens. Wear a mask. If you must work in the yard, an inexpensive painter's
mask will protect you from grass and flower pollen as well as mold. Take a shower.
After being outdoors, get rid of allergens that may have collected in your clothes
and hair. Take a shower, wash your hair, and change clothes. Use the clothes
drier. Don't hang clothes and linens outside to dry. Pollen and molds can easily
attach to them. Vacuum your car. Lots of animal dander is shed from your clothes
onto your car's interior. Keep car windows closed, and close vents. Use air
conditioning.
